Big Bass Splash

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Big Bass Splash is one of those games I keep opening without really deciding to. The core loop is casting a line, waiting for the tug, and reeling in with a little timing minigame that never gets old. The controls are all one-thumb, so it works fine when you're standing on a train holding a coffee in the other hand.

What surprised me is how much character the game has. The water reacts nicely, the fish have weight to them when you reel, and there's a soft, sunny presentation that makes it feel more like a lazy weekend than a chore. Sessions are short by design, which is exactly what a casual title should be.

It's not deep, and it doesn't pretend to be. But as a five-minute break that leaves you a little calmer than before, it does its job better than most.
